{"id":2710,"date":"2026-09-20T15:40:18","date_gmt":"2026-09-20T13:40:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.molongui.com\/help\/?p=2710"},"modified":"2026-10-08T21:13:04","modified_gmt":"2026-10-08T19:13:04","slug":"how-to-set-a-custom-default-avatar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.molongui.com\/help\/how-to-set-a-custom-default-avatar\/","title":{"rendered":"How to Set a Custom Default Avatar"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Molongui Authorship lets you choose a custom image to use when an author does not have an available author-specific avatar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is useful if you want authors without an avatar to display your logo, a branded placeholder, or any other image of your choice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Set a custom default avatar<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Go to <strong>Molongui Authorship > Settings<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Open the <strong>General<\/strong> tab.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Find the <strong>Author Avatar Settings<\/strong> section.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enable <strong>Use a custom default avatar<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click <strong>Select Image<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select an existing image from the WordPress Media Library or upload a new one.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click <strong>Use as Default Avatar<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Save the settings.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>The selected image will now be available as the global Custom Default Avatar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">When is the Custom Default Avatar displayed?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Custom Default Avatar is used when no higher-priority author-specific avatar is available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With Local Avatars and Gravatar enabled, the standard priority is:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Local Avatar \u2192 Gravatar \u2192 Custom Default Avatar<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For example, if an author has no Local Avatar and no Gravatar, the Custom Default Avatar will be displayed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What happens if the author has no email address?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Gravatar requires an email address. If an author has no valid email address, Molongui Authorship skips Gravatar automatically.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In that case, if no Local Avatar is available, the Custom Default Avatar can be displayed directly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Does the Custom Default Avatar replace existing author avatars?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>No. The Custom Default Avatar is a fallback.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If an author has an available Local Avatar or Gravatar with higher priority, that avatar will normally be displayed instead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Change the Custom Default Avatar<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To use a different image:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Go to <strong>Molongui Authorship > Settings > General<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Find <strong>Author Avatar Settings<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Under <strong>Use a custom default avatar<\/strong>, click <strong>Change Image<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select or upload the new image.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Save the settings.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Disable the Custom Default Avatar<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To stop using the custom image, disable <strong>Use a custom default avatar<\/strong> and save the settings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If Gravatar remains enabled, authors without a Gravatar can use the <strong>Default Avatar configured in WordPress<\/strong> instead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If Gravatar is also disabled, Molongui Authorship will not use the WordPress Gravatar-provided default avatar.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Molongui Authorship lets you choose a custom image to use when an author does not have an available author-specific avatar.
