The source<\/code> attribute in [molongui_author_avatar]<\/code> lets you control which avatar source Molongui Authorship Pro should use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is useful when you want a shortcode to behave differently from the normal avatar resolution used elsewhere on your site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Available source values<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The source<\/code> attribute accepts the following values:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \n
  • auto<\/code> \u2014 Use the normal Molongui Authorship avatar resolution.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • local<\/code> \u2014 Prefer the locally uploaded avatar.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • gravatar<\/code> \u2014 Prefer the Gravatar associated with the author’s email address.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • acronym<\/code> \u2014 Display an acronym generated from the author’s name.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    Use automatic avatar resolution<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    Use source=\"auto\"<\/code> when you want Molongui Authorship to choose the avatar according to your global settings:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    With Local Avatars, Gravatar, and the Custom Default Avatar enabled, the normal resolution is:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
    Local Avatar \u2192 Gravatar \u2192 Custom Default Avatar<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
    If the Custom Default Avatar is disabled while Gravatar is enabled, the WordPress Default Avatar can be used instead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
    Prefer the Local Avatar<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
    Use source=\"local\"<\/code> to make the locally uploaded avatar the preferred source:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    If no Local Avatar is available, Molongui Authorship can continue to the configured fallback.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    This uses the Local Avatar when available and displays an acronym otherwise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
    Prefer Gravatar<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
    Use source=\"gravatar\"<\/code> when you want to request the author’s Gravatar first:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    If the author does not have a Gravatar, Molongui Authorship uses the appropriate fallback according to the shortcode and your global avatar settings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    This displays the author’s Gravatar when available and an acronym otherwise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
    To display nothing when no Gravatar is available:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Display an acronym directly<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
    Use source=\"acronym\"<\/code> when you want to display an acronym instead of an image:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
    [molongui_author_avatar source=\"acronym\"]<\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n
    This bypasses Local Avatar and Gravatar selection and displays the generated acronym directly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
    Global avatar settings still apply<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
    The settings under Authors > Settings > General<\/strong> act as global master switches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
    For example:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    • If Local Avatars are disabled globally, source=\"local\"<\/code> cannot force Molongui Authorship to use them.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • If Gravatar is disabled globally, source=\"gravatar\"<\/code> cannot re-enable Gravatar requests.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
      The shortcode can choose how enabled avatar sources are used, but it cannot override a source that has been disabled globally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
      What happens if you omit the source attribute?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
      The source<\/code> attribute is optional.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
      [molongui_author_avatar]<\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n
      Shortcodes without an explicit source<\/code> keep the existing legacy behavior for backward compatibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
      If you want the shortcode to use the new global avatar resolution explicitly, use:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
