If an author’s Local Avatar is not showing, the most common causes are that local avatars are disabled globally, no image is assigned to the author, or another feature is explicitly requesting a different avatar source.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Make sure Local Avatars are enabled<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
    \n
  1. Go to Authors > Settings<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Open the General<\/strong> tab.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Find the Author Avatar Settings<\/strong> section.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Make sure Use local author avatars<\/strong> is enabled.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. Save the settings.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    If Local Avatars are disabled globally, Molongui Authorship will not use locally uploaded profile pictures anywhere as an avatar source.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    2. Check that the author actually has a Local Avatar<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    For a registered WordPress User:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      \n
    1. Go to Users > All Users<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    2. Edit the user.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    3. Open the Author Profile<\/strong> tab.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    4. Check the Profile Picture<\/strong> panel in the right-hand sidebar.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

      For a Guest Author:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        \n
      1. Open the Guest Authors<\/strong> screen.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      2. Edit the Guest Author.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      3. Check the Profile Picture<\/strong> panel in the sidebar.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

        If no local image is assigned, Molongui Authorship will continue to the next available avatar source.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        3. Make sure the image still exists<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

        If the image assigned as the Local Avatar has been deleted from the WordPress Media Library, it can no longer be displayed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        Edit the author and assign a valid image again from the Profile Picture<\/strong> panel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        4. Check whether another avatar source is being requested explicitly<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

        Some Molongui Authorship features can explicitly request a different avatar source.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        For example, this shortcode:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        [molongui_author_avatar source=\"gravatar\"]<\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n
        asks for Gravatar instead of the Local Avatar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
        Likewise:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
        [molongui_author_avatar source=\"acronym\"]<\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n
        displays an acronym directly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
        If you want the normal avatar priority to apply, use:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
        [molongui_author_avatar source=\"auto\"]<\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n
        5. Check the Author Box settings<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
        The Author Box has its own avatar source and fallback settings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
        If it is configured to use Gravatar as its primary source, the Author Box may intentionally display a Gravatar instead of the author’s Local Avatar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
        Review the Author Box avatar configuration under Authors > Settings<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
        6. Remember that global settings act as master switches<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
        Even if a feature explicitly requests a Local Avatar, it cannot use one while Use local author avatars<\/strong> is disabled globally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
        This ensures that your site-wide avatar policy always takes priority over individual display settings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
        Still not seeing the Local Avatar?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
        Check the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
          \n
        • Local Avatars are enabled under Authors > Settings > General<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • A valid image is assigned to the author.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • The assigned image still exists in the Media Library.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • The Author Box is not explicitly using another avatar source.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
